Sidelocks
Sidelock side-by-side shotguns
The construction of the finest English and Spanish guns, built in Eibar in ten engraving patterns and every gauge from 12 to .410.
What is a sidelock?
In a sidelock the hammers, mainsprings and sears are mounted on two plates let into the sides of the stock, rather than inside the action body. The result is a slimmer action, a crisper trigger, and lockwork that can be removed and serviced on its own.
The plates also give the engraver a generous canvas, which is why sidelocks are the traditional choice for the most finely finished guns. Every Ugartechea sidelock shares the same mechanical specification; the models differ in their engraving.
Sidelock or boxlock?
Which is better, a sidelock or a boxlock?
Both are proven designs. A boxlock is simpler, robust and less expensive; a sidelock offers a slimmer action, a refined trigger, removable locks and more room for engraving.
Which gauges are Ugartechea sidelocks made in?
Every sidelock model is built in 12, 16, 20 and 28 gauge and .410, with 2¾″ (70 mm) chambers and 26″, 27″ or 28″ barrels.
Are they made to order?
Yes. Chokes, rib, triggers, stock shape and dimensions are specified with each order, and stocks can be made to measure.
