Boxlocks
Boxlock side-by-side shotguns
The Anson & Deeley Model 40N, and the Jabalí boar guns: simple, strong and quick to the shoulder.
What is a boxlock?
In a boxlock the lockwork sits inside the action body. Patented by Anson and Deeley in 1875, it has fewer parts than a sidelock, is very strong, and has been the backbone of the side-by-side ever since.
Ugartechea builds two boxlock families: the Model 40N, a classic field gun in every gauge from 12 to .410, and the Jabalí, a short-barrelled boar gun bored cylinder and cylinder with a sighted rib.
Questions
What is the difference between the 40N and the 40N EX?
The 40N has double extractors, which lift the shells for removal by hand; the 40N EX has selective automatic ejectors, which throw out fired cases only.
What is the Jabalí for?
Driven boar and other fast close-range shooting: 25″ barrels bored cylinder and cylinder, a flat rib with rear sight and front bead, and a beavertail forend.
Which gauges are available?
The Model 40N is built in 12, 16, 20 and 28 gauge and .410. The Jabalí is made in 12 gauge and, as the Jabalí 20 EX, in 20 gauge.
